Three Against the World: A Waif, a Stray, and a Romance?

Richard loses his job. He’s ditched by his gold-digging fiancée. His ex-wife dumps a daughter he didn’t know about on his doorstep. Will being a single dad make another romance impossible? Has it ended Richard’s new freedom to make a teenage dream come true?

Fourteen-year-old Maria knows her mother doesn’t want her. Can she believe her father does, or is she a burden he’d be happier without?

Ben, a dog Richard adopted from a rescue centre, defends Maria from a rapist, but the Dangerous Dogs Act is draconian. Will the Jack Russell’s life be forfeit, Richard jailed, and Maria lose her only defender in a world that keeps proving it’s hostile?

Sarah's hope is that readers will enjoy her novels as an escape from reality, but be left understanding that fame and fortune often comes at a high personal cost. Also, an increased perception of the threat to animals: those shot in the name of sport for trophy heads, endangered species, many poached for their fur and ivory, and tragically discarded pets.

  1. A Very Captivating Story!

The most endearing part for me: Richard realises he no longer needs to learn to love and accept Maria & fulfill his duties as a father-figure, instead he realises that Maria is his world – & he actually wants her to be a major part of his life.
